Maths Tutor – David Jessopp

My name is David Jessopp, I am a UK BSc. Hons Maths graduate with qualified teacher status. I have 34 years’ experience of teaching Maths in high achieving schools with a proven record of results at GCSE and A level. I have worked in independent and maintained schools in both England and New Zealand. I am now semi-retired from teaching, and I currently provide online maths tuition for Common Entrance, GCSE, and A level.

I have taught Maths at GCSE and A Level since 1987. I have a vast experience of teaching senior students from years 7 to 13. I have held several management roles which have included Head of Mathematics at a private school in Bedford until 2020 and examiner roles for a major UK awarding body. Whilst in New Zealand I have worked extensively preparing students for the Cambridge International Examinations (GCSE and A level) and the International Baccalaureate. At least one of my AS level students gained a ‘Top of the World’ award for their achievement in Maths.

I am a very calm and patient person, who enjoys helping students reach their full potential. I take immense pride in preparing fun and engaging tuition sessions for students who have initially struggled with Maths and found concepts difficult to understand. These students have then gone on to secure outstanding examination results.

Many of my students have gained greater enjoyment in their learning and have become more motivated. I have worked with students diagnosed with autism, Asperger’s syndrome and other learning difficulties. The student is the centre of the learning experience and I collaborate with them to find the problems they are having, often using past examination assessment material so that they can achieve at their highest level, with the relevant skills and confidence.
